KOOLALA MAKES PAUL WEBBER 5OO NOT OUT!

Paul Webber – trained his 500th winner

KOOLALA’S easy win by five lengths in a mares’ novice hurdle in the 2.15 at Wincanton today may not have set the racing world alight but it did create a little piece of history by giving Paul Webber his 500th win under both codes.

Before I am inundated with voicemail, texts and tweets to politely suggest that not only should I not split infinitives but that I go back to school and sit GCSE Maths, for those of you who have looked at Paul’s web site and make it 499 wins….there’s the not too small matter of Australia Day’s Conditions race win in Seb Sebastian in September 2012!

So, 498 + Australia Day’s foreign foray victory + Koolala’s south-western romp = 500!

I rang the Master of Cropredy Lawn to congratulate him and even he had forgotten about the grey’s win in Spain.  Typically modest, he said, “Well, it’s taken long enough to get there!”

Paul is a patient dual-purpose trainer but one who knows the time of day with his horses and if they have ability, he can be relied upon to maximise their potential.  An erudite communicator, he is good with owners and a trainer who deserves all the success that comes his way.

Congratulations to Paul and all the team at Cropredy Lawn on reaching this meritorious milestone and bring on the next 500!
