SHARP DISTINCTION ran out an impressive winner at Lingfield yesterday by two lengths to record his second win of the season under jockey Adam Farragher for owners, Solario Racing (Berkhamsted) and trained by Amy Murphy.
The 4yo chestnut son of Tamayuz was rerouted from Southwell to the Surrey track after the midlands track meeting was abandoned and the BHA put on a substitute meeting at Lingfield. There was some doubt as to whether the sharper course would play to Sharp Distinction’s strengths but he travelled beautifully throughout the race and when Adam Farragher went for a gap on the inside rail in the home straight, “Sharpie” showed his turn of foot and soon put the race to bed in a matter of strides.
Having won over 1m6f at Yarmouth in August and also shown placed form over two miles at Kempton, there was also a question mark as to whether 1m5f round Lingfield would suit but the manner in which he won would suggest he’d have won over 1m4f or two miles yesterday.
This was the gelding’s first run after a wind operation, conducted by Brain Partners Equine Vets Limited, so a big thank you to them. Adam Farragher said he felt a different horse.
Sharp Distinction has now won or been placed in the first four in nine of his sixteen starts and there should be more to come over the winter and next season as the syndicate are keeping him in training next year. However, there are two 1/12th shares available!
There are also shares available in the two yearlings purchased by Solario Racing a fortnight ago. Quarter shares are available in a rangy, good walking son of 2018 Derby winner, Masar while the good looking bay son of Sussex Stakes winner and first season sire, Mohaather is being syndicated in 1/12th shares.
