SOLARIO RACING’S horses have all safely returned from their holidays and are back in training at Newmarket, gearing up for the start of the flat turf season next month.
I spent a very enjoyble three and a half hours today looking at the progress of all four Solario Racing horses, which are all at different stages of training, some having had longer holidays than others.
First up was the Mohaather 2yo, known as “Max”. He is the most forward of the Solario string and has been enjoying his work ever since being broken in. Broken in before Christmas, he had a short break over Christmas and the New Year but has resumed from where he left off. He did two canters on the Hamilton Road gallops and went nicely. All being well, he should be one of Amy’s first 2yo runners. The son of the impressive Sussex Stakes winner, Mohaather, he is available in 1/12th shares and looks an exciting prospect. His owners will name in early April.
Three-year-old Baron Barolo, a lovely big strong, imposing son of Al Wukair, was too weak to run as a 2yo and Amy and the team have been very patient with him. He was out trotting and is on schedule to resume cantering later this month.
The Masar 2yo has only just returned from his break at Martley Hall Stud and he looked fantastic. LIke many colts, he has hung onto his coat well, so did not need clipping over the winter. He was on the lunge on his first day back and moved beautifully. Unlike the Mohaather, he will not be early but this son of the 2018 Derby winner has a very bright future.
Finally, I went down to Bottisham Heath Stud, down the road from Southgate Stables to see Sharp Distinction being ridden at the trot in a field. The oldest of the
Solario Racing horses, at five, last year’s dual winner has wintered well and looked on good terms with himself. There are two 1/1th shares available.
So far so good! If any existing owner or prospective owner would like to come and see the horses go through their paces, please contact the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email info@solarioracing.com.
