PRIDE OF AMERICA, the stable’s flagship older horse, who won the historic and prestigious John Smith’s Cup at York in July, bids today to gain black type for the first time when competing in a Listed race over 1m2f, due off at 1.50pm.

He has won seven races, six of them for Amy and has climbed the handicap ranks from 79 when first running for Southgate Stables in March of last year to his current rating of 110.

Today, his task is made easier by the withdrawal of the Group One horse, My Prospero for the William Haggas yard.  If he can beat favourite, Royal Rhyme, who is rated 108, he should win.

The Fredick Larson rides Pride of America who is the 5/2 second favourite.
