TARITINO is an odds-on favourite to defy a 7lb penalty in a restricted novice event today at Redcar over 6f, due off at 4.41pm.
He bears the penalty for his win at the track six weeks ago when winning comfortably over 7f. The second and third have both won since, with the runner-up in fact, having won twice, so the form is rock solid.
However, odds of 8/11 looks very skinny as it takes a smart horse to give away weight all round in a novice race. However, he is in good form and should go close under Stefano Cherchi, who claims 3lbs.
The dangers look to be Optician, Aihawawi and Pop World.
Amy also sends Aurophobia to Redcar in a six-runners novice event over 7f (5.15pm). She hasn’t shown a great deal in two runs to date and is the outside of the party at 30/1. Connor Beasley rides. While she’s probably better than her odds, she’s going to have to improve a good deal to win today.
