PAUL WEBBER like many trainers has been waiting for good, fast ground for many of his horses and today he runs four at Uttoxeter who could all improve for racing on the forecast ground, Good, Good to Firm in places.
Definitely Glad (1.55), Lemon’s Gent (2.25), Firm Order (4.15) and Harris Garden (5.25) comprise the Cropredy Lawn Uttoxeter quartet and if one follows the money, then Lemon’s Gent and Firm Order might be worth a look at 5/1 and 8/1 respectively. The former is owned by Pink Floyd guitarist and songwriter, Roger Waters and is well regarded by the Master of Cropredy Lawn. Sam Jones does the steering.
Firm Order has not quite lived up to previous expectations but there has been money for him today and this 8yo Winged Love gelding may start to come into his own. Denis O’Regan rides as he does the other two Cropredy Lawn runners.
Harris Garden is a horse I like a lot and although there has been little market confidence in him today, he is from the family of Big Buck’s and the step up to 3 miles and the quick ground should both suit.
As for today’s Guineas, it’s a mouth-watering contest with the unbeaten colts Dawn Approach and Toronado doing battle for the first time. Jockeys are not always the greatest tipsters but if Hughsie is saying in the Racing Post, “He’s very possibly the best horse I’ve ever ridden,” then that might be a comment to take seriously. Bear in mind, he used to ride Canford Cliffs!
