TWIN SAILS ran a fine race in yesterday’s Group Two Vintage Stakes for trainer Dean Ivory, when fourth, beaten just 3/4 length.
He came into the race unbeaten having won his maiden at Newbury and a novice stakes at Salisbury, both over 6f. The step up to 7f was expected to suit and indeed it did. While he was somewhat awkward leaving the stalls, he raced in midfield and after being switched left by Pat Dobbs with around two furlongs to go, he stayed on nicely in the final hundred yards.
The son of Sir Percy looks to have a decent future and while he earned £10,000 for connections for his valiant fourth, bigger pay days beckon.
