TROPICS ONE OF THREE ROYAL ASCOT RUNNERS FOR IVORY

TROPICS is one of three Royal Ascot runners for Dean Ivory on the final day of Royal Ascot when he contests the Group One Diamond Jubilee over 6f at 4.25pm.

The 6yo son of Speightstown, who cost $700,000 as a yearling but went through the ring for 2,500 guineas in 2011, won five races last year, including a Group Three at Ascot, £100,000 in prize money and went up 32lbs in the handicap to 116.

This year, he has yet to fire in three runs but the yard has been fairly quiet during the first few months of the year.  Tropics is still rated 112 and if he was back to his best, the 25/1 shot would not be out of this very tough sprint.  Robert Winston rides.

In the Wokingham at 5pm, Dean runs Sirius Prospect (Robert Winston) and Lancelot Du Lac (Tom Queally), who both had good seasons last year, winning seven races between them.  They are big outsiders today at around 40/1 and really need to step up their game to figure in one of the calendar’s most competitive sprint handicaps.
