Thomas Equinas – makes his debut at HQ
THOMAS EQUINAS makes his racecourse debut today at Newmarket in a 7f maiden (1.15pm) and as there are only four runners, he is guaranteed to be in the money!
This Mayson half-brother to stablemates, Fighting Temeraire and Hot Chesnut, was bred by Michael Yarrow and is jointly owned by him and his wife.
He has been a tricky customer to train and certainly has more than his fair share of spirit about him! It will be interesting to see how he copes with the preliminaries and all that goes with a first race. He does have plenty of ability but the 20/1 shot has a stiff task today to overcome the market leaders, Al Jaddaf and Spinaround, who have experience and form behind them. Shane Kelly rides.
