FIGHTING TEMERAIRE showed battling qualities to win at Newmarket yesterday, when holding on by a short head under Robert Winston.
The better ground than the soft he encounted in the Britannia at Royal Ascot suited as did the drop back to seven furlongs. However, the 3yo Invincible Spirit colt had to dig deep to hold off the challenge of Dream Mover.
This was the horse’s second win in just eight starts and there should be more to come. For Dean Ivory, this was his sixth win from his last thirteen runners as the yard ended July in fine form.
The stable has had 29 wins at a strike rate of 15% with prize money over £418,000 and is on course for another record year.
