TARITINO was today announced as the name for the exciting Buratino 2yo at the Solario Racing (Moulton) Naming Day and it won by a short head!
Prior to today’s Naming Day at Amy Murphy’s Southgate Stables, the owners had each put forward a name and then voted on each of the names submitted. It was a close run thing as Puppeteer won 59 votes, just one behind Taritino’s 60.
The winning name was put forward by new owner and recently married, Louise Simmons. It’s based on the letters used in the pedigree and is not a play on the film director Tarantino, although I wonder if his stable name might revert from Archie to Quentin!
The Naming Day began with coffee and croissants before we drove over to the Rowley Mile to see the boy work with another 2yo (unnamed by Muhaarar) and this was the first time he had been asked to join up with his galloping companion. He was a little green initially but soon got the hang of things and worked nicely under apprentice jockey, Stefano Cherchi.
It was back to the yard for a photo-shoot before a celebratory glass of Champagne and then it was off for a three-course lunch at The Crown and Punchbowl at nearby Horningsea.
This 1/12th share syndicate comprises a nice mix of existing owners and new owners, for whom some, this is their very first share in a racehorse.
Amy Murphy spent a lot of time with the owners and they were thrilled to hear that all being well, he could be about three weeks off a run!
In the meantime, he will be going to Newbury on Easter Saturday to take part in a pre-race parade, as part of Great British Racing’s In The Paddock Racecourse Ownership Day at Newbury.
Solario Racing will be having a trade stand at the course and would be delighted to see anybody who is thinking of getting involved in a syndicate.
There is just one share available in Taritino!
