NUTCRACKER PRINCE, the year younger full brother to Sugar Train, one of the two Cropredy Lawn Racing syndicate horses, won at Bangor-on-Dee yesterday.
This was the 4yo’s third ever race and he was not winning out of turn, having been third on his debut at Huntingdon on Armistice Day last year before being beaten a head in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. The horse seems to have a sense of occasion as yesterday was the 63rd anniversary of the Queen ascending the throne!
The Shaun Lycett-trained son of Rail Link was stepping up to 2m1f and although he was off the bridle some way out, he stayed on and won comfortably by three and three-quarter lengths.
Sugar Train is working very nicely at home and Paul and the team have six possible bumpers lined up for him within the next three weeks.
