SUGAR TRAIN lived up to Cropredy Lawn Racing’s expectations yesterday when second on his debut, beaten just four and a half lengths.
The son of Rail Link was one of twelve runners in the extended two mile bumper at Town Moor and there was plenty to like about his first racecourse experience.
He took the preliminaries really well and was totally switched off throughout. He ambled around the pre-parade ring and the paddock and despite a horse getting loose and delaying the race by a good ten minutes, he barely turned a hair.
During the race itself, he was handily ridden by Liam Treadwell, as was the plan and despite coming off the bridle about 6f out, more to greenness than anything else, he took it up again and galloped all the way to the line.
The winner, Davy’s About was running for the fifth time, so this was a great performance by Sugar Train, who was 7l clear of the third.
Liam Treadwell was delighted with the horse and said all he wants to do his please. This exciting prospect is one of two horses in the new Cropredy Lawn Racing syndicate, the other being a 4yo Kalanisi called Mr Banks.
If you would like to get involved in a two-horse, two-season syndicate for just two all-inclusive payments, why not come and see for yourself? Come and see them both working on the gallops at Cropredy Lawn, a superb 200-acre private training establishment.
