DEAN IVORY and Solario Racing joined forces to co-host an Open Day yesterday as part of National Racehorse Week and it was a big hit with those who attended.
A dry and warm morning greeted guests who turned up from 9.30am onwards, so the good weather allowed us to go ahead with a packed programme of events as planned. There were some no-shows but nevertheless some 20 guests turned up including one lady from Cambridgeshire!
After coffee and Danish pastries, it was time to watch Third Lot, limbering up in the canter ring before going to the gallops. Both Solario Racing juveniles, Sharp Distinction and Twilight Bay strutted their stuff and the latter did a nice piece of work upsides Nezar.
The 13yo Sprinter, Tropics, having been on the gallops, was then paraded in the indoor school along with Llibrisa Breeze, winner of the 2017 Group One Champions Sprint. The two veterans have won £1.3million between them and were a big attraction for the Open Day guests who took plenty of photos of the stable stars.
Attendees were then given a personal guided tour of the main yard before being treated to Champagne and a superb brunch in one of the nearby paddocks. While the day was all about celebrating the racehorse and the racing industry, there was interest among some guests in getting involved in shared ownership.
The morning had been oversubscribed, so there will be an “overspill” second Open Day on Saturday 13 November. If you have already booked on that, please call Simon Double at the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email info@solarioracing.com to confirm your attendance. If you haven’t yet booked but would like to attend, again please call or email to register your place or places.
