FOLLOWING a great night at Chelmsford last Thursday when the yard had two winners and a second from three runners, Dean is looking for another good day on Bank Holiday Monday when he runs five at the Essex track.
In the opener at 1.25pm, Billy Button and Dover Light both line up for a 6f novice in a six-runner affair. The latter has not shown a great deal in two starts and is the 50/1 outsider today under Ryan Tate. The chestnut juvenile is rather weak physically at the moment and will be better in time. Today, he has the hood on and maybe that will help.
However, Billy Button, making his debut, looks to have stronger claims at 5/1 third favourite under Joey Haynes. Lack of experience may find the son of Coach House out but only two of the sextet have previous racecourse experience and they include Dover Light. Billy Button has an each-way should although the money has been for favourite, Marco Botti’s Malotru.
At 2pm, Nicky Baby is back in handicap company over a mile and although he will find it tougher than his last two outings over course and distance when first and then second in two Classified contests, he should be there or thereabouts under 7lb claimer Sophie Ralston, who knows the grey well. At 9/2, he has each way claims.
Hello Girl is well handicapped in the third race on the card, a 6f handicap, due off at 2.35pm and the 4yo daughter of Bated Breath can benefit from first-time cheekpieces and with Martin Dwyer on board, can reward each-way backers at 5/1.
Finally, Fantastic Flyer, winner of her last two starts over 7f at Kempton and at Chelmsford lines up in the 4.25 over the same trip and despite a hike in the weights, this course and distance winner has a good each-way chance of getting the hat-trick at 4/1 under Martin Dwyer.
