SPRING ROMANCE, winner of four of his five starts as a 3yo this season, steps up in class tomorrow when running in a Class 4, 0-80 handicap at Newmarket’s July Course, due off at 2.40pm.
This in-form, improving sprinting son of Zebedee is drawn 12 of 12, the ground is Good to Firm and Jack Duern is back on board, claiming three pounds.
Spring Romance is on good terms with himself at home but he is running off a mark, 30 pounds higher than when he first won at Wolverhampton, back in early February. We are hoping there is still more to come and at 4/1, he represents a solid each-way bet.
Dangers include Willie Haggas’ Red Cymbal and Ralph Beckett’s Prevent, beaten by the Spring Romance last time out, although the turnaround in the weights, in theory, is not enough to turn the tables.
It’s an open race, in which the bookmakers go 4/1 the field but we’re hoping Spring Romance can continue his upward curve.
