SPRING ROMANCE returns this evening to the scene his impressive triumph last month, Wolverhampton over 6f in the penultimate race on the card, due off at 8.15pm.
The 3 3/4 length winner was hiked 13lbs for his win but given the runner-up has won since, maybe it’s difficult to be too harsh with the handicapper! Tonight, the conditions of the race are the same, a 0-60 handicap over 6f and “Neville” has the plum draw in stall one. Jack Duern rides again, claiming three pounds and the son of Zebedee, having just his fifth ever run, is expected to run well.
He is a short price at 5/2 but is a deserved favourite and all things being equal, should be there or thereabouts at the death. Dangers include Sandytown, the well-supported Swissie and one at a slightly bigger price, Mutabaahy.
