Spring Romance – winning at Windsor last year

SPRING ROMANCE is back on turf for the first time in 308 days when one of 17 runners at Salisbury today in a 0-75 handicap for 3yos and upwards over 6f and he looks one of the more interesting runners in a wide open affair.

His two races on the grass last year produced a win on very fast ground at Windsor nearly a year ago and then he was a very creditable fourth on Newmarket’s July course in July, when he was probably beginning to go over the top.

Today, he faces ideal ground conditions, Good To Firm and Adam Kirby, who knows the horse is again on board.  The horse has to put a lack-lustre performance last time out at Chelmsford at Chelmsford but not all horses act on the surface and that combined with his poor draw last time out means one can forgive a rare disappointing run.

The horse is weak in the market at 16/1 but he looks overpriced and should each give each-way backers a run for their money.  The bookmakers go 11/2 the field which tells it own story!
