SPRING ROMANCE is favourite in “The Solario Racing Personal Racehorse Syndication Handicap” at Windsor on Bank Holiday Monday.
Eight runners go to post in the 0-70 handicap over 5f for 3yos only and the dual all-weather winner is drawn four of eight. Regular pilot, Jack Duern, rides claiming three pounds.
Spring Romance is no stranger to Windsor, having run there on his three juvenile starts last year over five and six furlongs. He only beat two horses home in all three starts but was a very immature horse, both physically and mentally.
On his second start, he was last of 10 runners, beaten 19 1/2 lengths….but it was behind subsequent 2,000 Guineas runner-up, Tip Two Win, so not bad form! The good to firm going should suit and he should run a big race. Dangers include the well handicapped, Haveoneyerself.
The stable also runs Tangramm in the 3.45, a 1m2f handicap. This last time out winner has been prolific on the all-weather, having won all of his nine races on the artificial surface. Indeed, this is his only second start on grass. Robert Winston rides the 9/1 shot and if he can transfer his all-weather form to the grass, he would have a great each-way chance.
