Adam Kirby - rides Spring Romance and Soaring Spirits at Lingfield

Adam Kirby – rides Spring Romance and Soaring Spirits at Lingfield

SPRING ROMANCE makes his seasonal reappearance and his first as a 4yo after 213 days off the track today at Lingfield (3.15pm) and he surprisingly has been made favourite at around 15/8.

One of just six runners in the 0-80 contest over five furlongs, this dual course winner is fit enough to run well but three of his four wins have been over six furlongs and he does have a long absence to overcome.  However, Adam Kirby has been booked and he should run well. The other five runners are all race fit (the longest absence from the track being just 28 days) so there are plenty of potential dangers, particularly Joegogo.

The stable also runs Soaring Spirits at Lingfield in the 1.30, a mile handicap and again Adam Kirby rides.  This course and distance winners and three times course winner, likes it at Lingfield and he’s had an each-way chance at double figure odds.  Last time out winner, First Link looks a big threat.

The stable has yet to win in February but even if it draws a blank at Lingfield, may be Sir Prize can notch his hat-trick in the 5.45 at Kempton, a 0-75 handicap over 1m4f.  He has looked nicely progressive this year and both wins have come at the Sunbury course, once over course and distance.  At around 11/4, he should not be far away under Rob Hornby who is aboard the son of Sir Percy for the first time.

Finally, Red Moon Lady makes her debut for Mrs Gwen Thomas in the 5.15, a 6f novice but this 3yo daughter of Epaulette is the only one of nine runners making her debut and the yard is not renowned for first time out winners.  Whatever she does today, the 16/1 shot is likely to improve.
