FLAMING SPEAR is the stable’s only runner today in the 6.40 at Kempton, a Listed contest over a mile and on pure ratings, he has the best chance.
One of 11 runners in the field, the Tony Bloom-owned chestnut is rated 109 and although both his all-weather wins have come on the Tapeta at Newcastle, there is no reason to suppose he will not act on Kempton’s polytrack.
Drawn well in two, he has Robert Winston aboard and at 7/2, should be in the frame at least. It’s a tight contest and Victory Bond and Straight Right look the two principal dangers.
