SOLARIO RACING is thrilled to have purchased two beautifully bred yearlings on the first day of Doncaster’s prestigious Premier Yearling Sales.
In appalling rain sodden conditions, we struck early with Lot 16, an attractive, well put together filly by Amadeus Wolf out of a Kris dual winning mare. She’s a half-sister to seven previous winners and is from one of the late Howard de Walden’s home-bred families which includes Pursuit Of Love, a former Champion 3yo sprinter in Europe. Despite auctioneer Harry Beeby asking for £20,000, we secured her for just £6,000 which was a steal.
I looked at some 180 horses during three days at the sale and had a shortlist that was rather long! Having purchased a filly, Solario Racing was keen to balance things up with a colt and we had our eye on a stunning chestnut colt by first season sire Rebellion, a dual Group winner who was also second in a Breeders Cup Mile.
Out of a three times winning Stravinsky mare, despite being a first foal, he’s a real strong, strapping individual that fills the eye and I was delighted to secure him for £16,000.
Martin Bosley was up with the larks this morning, setting off to Doncaster to pick both horses up. Bringing home a filly and a colt in the same horsebox can sometimes be a challenging proposition but with the aid of strong smelling Vicks in the box, the colt never caught a whiff of the filly and duly behaved himself.
Both horses are settling in well to their new surroundings and will be prepared for our Yearling Parade on Sunday 14 October when they will be available for syndication in twelfth shares.
If you wish to arrange a private viewing beforehand, you are more than welcome. Please call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 to arrange a day to suit.
