SOLARIO RACING’S official launch at our Gallops Morning yesterday was a huge success with some 150 owners and prospective owners basking in unseasonably warm spring weather.
From 10.30 onwards the cars streamed down the drive of Bowstridge Farm Stables and after teas and coffees everyone strolled down to the gallops to see our exciting two-year-olds being put through their paces.
Nine horses, headed by Arachnophobia went up the gallops but it was all eyes on the syndicate two-year-olds. George Baker, fresh from his Winter Derby success the previous day aboard Premier Loco had the leg up on the colt by Indesatchel and they went upsides recent winner Midnight Spirit with George’s brother, Zac Baker in the saddle.
They went a nice canter and the Indesatchel went very easily. George did not press any buttons but he certainly felt the colt had plenty more to give.
The Sakhee’s Secret filly was ridden by Kirsten Smith and she took a few people’s breaths away as she breezed up three furlongs alongside Spaceman.
Once everyone was assembled in the barn, it was time for champagne and sausages. Some 800 sumptuous sausages, glazed in honey and mustard were devoured in the twinkling of a jockey’s eye! George Baker came up to the mic to talk about his career to date and he was followed by jumps jockey Dominic Elsworth and flat jockey, Sam Hitchcott. All three were very entertaining and with George being the tallest jockey riding on the flat and Sam probably the smallest, it felt a bit like interviewing The Long, the Short and the Tall!
There was serious interest in the syndicate two-year-olds whose shares continue to sell well. Both horses are being named next month, so if you wish to get involved in the naming process, do get in touch….soon!
Whether you attended yesterday or not, if you would like a personal tour of the stables with the opportunity to see the 2yos on the gallops, you are very welcome. To book a morning, simply call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email us at info@solarioracing.com
