SOLARIO RACING joined forces with CROPREDY LAWN RACING today to raise money for charity at this year’s Eclipse Sports Promotions Sporting Legends’ Christmas Lunch held at Balls Brothers in the City.
Proceedings were hosted by West Ham centre half legend, Alvin Martin, whose inimitable and quick-witted scouse humour made the afternoon rattle along with real pace, an attribute he himself said he sadly lacked in his playing days!
Legends from the world of football included Kerry Dixon, Perry Groves, Graham Roberts and Ossie Ardilles and each table of ten guests had a football legend on their table as various parlour games including a quiz, mini-pool, a tongue-twister round and head tennis tested the skills, sporting and otherwise of the assembled guests.
Yours truly was on Eclipse Sports’ Steve Surridge’s guests’ table which included Tottenham legend, Micky Hazard who excelled at the pool table and in the head tennis. His contribution ensured Table 8 romped home the winners by a wide margin!
The other winners were the various charities which included The Lords Taverners and Movember. A raffle and several auction items which included a Champagne Racing Experience for two people at Paul Webber’s Cropredy Lawn Stables and at Newbury Racecourse raised over £10,000 during the afternoon. Solario Racing and Cropredy Lawn Racing were delighted to have contributed in a small way to an excellent afternoon, well organised as always by Eclipse Sports’ Steve Surridge and his team.
