Soaring Spirits – well handicapped but out of form

SOARING SPIRITS is the sole runner today, when one of 12 lining up for the opener at Lingfield, a 12-runner handicap over 7f.

The 9yo son of Tamayuz has 11 wins to his name but the chestnut gelding has been out of form for a while now.  This means off a mark of 45, he is well handicapped and is in fact 10lbs below his last winning mark which was in this corresponding race last year.  The difference is he was in better form going into the race last year than today.

Luke Bacon takes a handy 7lbs off his back, so if he showed anything like his old form, the 33/1 shot would go close.  However, that’s a big “if”!
