DEAN IVORY runs two in the same race at Goodwood today, Rosie’s Premiere and Links Drive Lady, in the 3.45 and although both are big outsiders, the former looks interesting in first time blinkers.
Fifteen line up for the 6f handicap for 3yos and upwards rated 0-95 in what looks a very competitive contest but cases can be made for both Harper Lodge Farm runners.
I was at Lingfield when “Rosie” made her debut back in June 2014 and Seb Sanders who rode her was very excited about her. She duly won next time out at Windsor and has subsequently won handicaps off 87 and 89. She hasn’t set the world alight this year but has been gradually slipping down the weights as a result and today runs off 86, so she is handicapped to win.
The application of first time blinkers with a tongue tie could rejuvenate the daughter of Showcasing and with Robert Winston aboard, she might be worth chancing each-way at a best priced 28/1.
Dean’s other runner, Links Drive Lady is also rated 86 and although she is a course and distance winner, her highest winning mark is 85. Jack Duern, who won on her in June takes a valuable three pounds off but the 8yo mare could do with some cut in the ground and she is often slowly away. She can surprise and is also a big price at 25/1 but Rosie’s Premiere has more potential.
It is a wide open sprint and probably not one in which to get too heavily involved.
