ROMAN SENATE makes his three-year-old reppearance at Warwick tomorrow in the final race of the day, a 0–60 3yo only handicap over a mile and due off at 6.15pm.
The son of Holy Roman Emperor was gelded at the back end of last year and we are hoping this will focus his mind on the track. He has been working better this year although there’s no doubt he’s one of those who saves a bit for himself!
The step up in trip to a mile should help, he’s handily drawn in three of fourteen and Liam Keniry rides. The going is currently Good but there is major rain predicted over Warwick tomorrow and if that materialises, there is no doubt any easing of the ground would not suit.
Three-year-old only handicaps early on in the season are notoriously tricky affairs and this contest would appear no different. There are any number of likely improvers from two to three and while Roman Senate, put in at 20/1 by the Racing Post, could be one of those, ground conditions will be key tomorrow.
