REVIEW OF THE WEEK: QUIET BEFORE THE STORM

Rosie's Premiere - interesting runner at Windsor

Rosie’s Premiere – interesting runner at Windsor

LAST week was a quiet one for the yard with just three runners.

Surfina, Pearly Queen and Firmdecisions failed to trouble the judge but as they went off at 12/1, 12/1 and 16/1, not too much was expected.

Keep an eye on though on Firmdecisions, who was already well handicapped going into the race on Saturday but he is still yet to recapture last year’s form.  Sure to come down the handicap again, when he does put his best foot forward, he could go in at a price.

Last week may have been quiet but the yard has some interesting runners today, starting with Jack The Laird, 7/4 favourite in the 2.30 at Chelmsford.  Put his disappointing last run behind him, when last of six at Leicester and he should go close as he had previously had a win and four seconds in his previous five outings.  Today’s 5f trip suits and under Robert Winston, he should not be far away.

Robert also rides  Golden Amber for Dean in a 7f Conditions event at Chelsmford (3.30pm) but the Holy Roman Emperor mare is badly off at the weights and this should be between market leaders Mitchum Swagger and Buckstay.

However, Robert may have better luck at Windsor on Rosie’s Premiere.  One of 14 runners in the valuable 6f handicap, due off at 7.30pm, she is on a winning mark, was a fast-finishing runner-up at Chepstow last time out over 5f, should appreciate the step up in trip and is a solid each-way chance at 6/1.
