LULU STANFORD may not be a household name but this very capable young apprentice won again last week on Secret Bird to give Dean Ivory his 35th win of the year.
Last month, Lulu defied the outside draw to win at Chelmsford over 6f on the Arcano gelding in an Apprentice race. On Friday, she was again draw very wide this time at Wolverhampton and over 5f and she was against the professionals.
This talented Newmarket-based jockey seems to get on well with Secret Bird and the pair won comfortably by two lengths. They look capable of landing the hat-trick.
The yard only had two other runners last week, Lucymai and Varsovian, who were both fifth. They didn’t run badly and the latter was only beaten two lengths and could be resuming winning ways before too long.
Dean will not be sending out many more runners before the end of what has been another record-breaking year but keep an eye out for New Agenda and Blue Revelation from the Paul Webber yard. Both were last time out winners and are capable of improvement.
