REVIEW OF THE WEEK: LIBRISA SHOWS UP WELL IN SPRINT

Dean Ivory - won with Firmdecisions

Dean Ivory – won with Firmdecisions

LIBRISA BREEZE was sixth in the Champions Sprint at Ascot yesterday, beaten just 3 1/2 lengths by The Tin Man and was certainly not disgraced over a distance short of his best.

Dean beforehand had said that 7f is the horse’s ideal trip and that has been borne out by two fantastic handicap wins at Ascot this year.  Nevertheless, the grey acquitted himself well in this Group One whose field included five previous Group One winners.

Dean ran eight horses last week and had a winner on the Friday at Chelmsford, courtesy of Firmdecisions under Pat Cosgrave.  It was the six-year-old’s first win since May of last year but his sixth career victory.

Blaze Of Hearts ran well be third at Yarmouth, beaten just 1 2/4 lengths while Spinning Rose filled the same position at Wolverhampton, beaten 1 1/2 lengths.

At the sales last week, Librisa Breeze’s full sister went through the ring at Tattersalls but Michael Yarrow and Dean were underbidders at 115,000 guineas.
