REVIEW OF THE WEEK: KADRIZZI WINS AT SHERGAR CUP

KADRIZZI was the star of the show for Harper Lodge Farm last week when winning under top jockey Thierry Jarnet at Ascot’s Shergar Cup Meeting on Saturday.

Given a confident ride by the four-times French champion jockey, the horse was held up at the back of the ten-runner field and came through to win the Sprint by a comfortable two lengths.  Having won two of his previous three wins on the all-weather some may have doubted Kadrizzi’s ability on turf but this was only his fifth start on the grass and proved this talented sprinter is one to watch under both codes.

Dean sent out 13 runners in total last week.  Harlequin Striker was second at Windsor, where the stable had five runners in total including Blaze Of Hearts and Stake Acclaim who were both third.  Twin Sails was the yard’s other third, when beaten just a length at Newmarket.  He is in great form, having been placed in his last three starts at York, Goodwood and Headquarters.

Prize money was also earned by fourth places, Pearly Queen and Tagula Night and they contributed to Dean now lying on just under £450,000 for the year.

The stable is on schedule to break last year’s £502k prize money record season and its best ever number of winners, 39 which was achieved in 2013.
