HARPER LODGE FARM hit form with a vengeance last week with four winners, two seconds and a fourth from eight runners.
Highlights included a near 29/1 Leicester double courtesy of Bobby Vee and Soaring Spirits. The former was the yard’s first 2yo winner of the year while the chestnut son of Tamayuz was completing a hat-trick.
Eljaddaaf’s win at Wolverhampton was his fifth win of the year and Temeraire Spirit’s Newmarket win on the Saturday was deserved compensation for good placed efforts in handicaps earlier in the year.
On the day that Robert Winston rode the Leicester double, Twin Sails was second, beaten just half a length under Dane O’Neill in a Glorious Goodwood handicap. Another second went to Rosie’s Premiere on the last day of the month while Surfina was in the money, when fourth in a Windsor maiden.
Robert Winston rode all the stable’s winners and he has now won on all bar three of the yard’s 29 winners this year.
Twin Sails may have been second but his runner-up spot took Dean past the £400k barrier for the second year running.
In terms of future winners, keep on the right side of Fighting Temeraire, who should have more improvement in him, particularly on a straight course while Rosie’s Premiere is knocking at the door and her turn is surely around the corner.
