LIBRISA BREEZE made up for an unlucky second in Royal Ascot’s Hunt Cup last month when easing to victory in the International Handicap at Ascot on King George Day last Saturday.
The 4yo grey son of Mount Nelson was given a very confident ride by Robert Winston as he swept from last of the centre group to first to win by a length and a half and justify 4/1 favouritism. There was concern beforehand about the Good to Firm going but the quick ground held no terrors and he led inside the final furlong to win the first prize of £93,000 readily.
It was a good week for the Ivory yard with Spinning Rose scoring by a head in a 10f handicap on Lingfield’s all-weather on the Wednesday, again under Robert Winston, thereby giving the yard its first win in July.
Dean sent out nine runners last week and as well as two winners, he had a 66/1 second courtesy of Blaze Of Hearts at Windsor a third for R Bar Open at Lingfield on the turf and a fourth place for Pearly Queen at Yarmouth.
