BADENSCOTH, the most progressive horse in the yard this season, with four wins out of his last five, needs to cope with fast ground at Sandown today (4pm) if he’s to make it five out of six.
The going was soft when he won over course and distance (1m2f) last time out and today the going is officially, Good To Firm, Good In Places. He’s only run on similar ground once in his life, two years ago at Newbury when he was seventh of eleven. That day he was rated 70 whereas now he’s 93, so it’s difficult to know whether an older, stronger horse will cope with today’s conditions. If he does, 10/1 will look a massive each-way price.
Dangers include Jazeel, Beringer and Elector but Badenscoth seems good each-way value under Robert Winston.
The yard also runs 150/1 shot The Cruix in an eight-runner 1m4f novice. He’ll be doing well to get anywhere near the 4/11 favourite, Promissory.
