SOLARIO RACING held its Owners’ Christmas lunch yesterday at The Crown in Chalfont St Giles and with just a fortnight to Christmas, everyone was in fine festive mood.
Proceedings began with a champagne reception and after a glass or two of bubbly, we made our way to the dining area for a three course lunch. While traditional smoked salmon, turkey and Christmas Pudding were on the menu, there were plenty of other tasty Crown alternatives on offer.
A Solario Christmas bash would not be complete without a racing quiz which tested the memory and knowledge of Solario Racing owners and partners alike. Unlike last year, there was no use of mobile phones to google answers and as a result there was plenty of scratching of the grey matter. In the end Mr Simon Coggon’s table won the day by just two points, although Mr Troy Attwood and company did need some hefty help from the quiz compiler, yours truly!
There was naturally plenty of talk about the Solario horses and plans for the future. Gunning For Glory owners were not surprisingly full of anticipation of their 2yo’s pending racecourse debut next week. There was also much interest expressed in our yearlings and another share was sold in the very exciting chestnut colt by Rebellion.
Coffees and digestifs rounded off the afternoon nicely and over five hours after the first glass of champagne was downed, the last diehard owners and Solario Racing partners left The Crown in great spirits!
