OWNERS enjoyed a fabulous day at Huntingdon Races yesterday with a Champagne Hospitality lunch in the Peterborough Chase Restaurant.
It’s been three years since Solario Racing has hosted an event at Huntingdon (for obvious pandemic reasons) but the Jockey Club course has always been a favourite and we had a record 16 of us enjoying Champagne, a three-course lunch with wine and afternoon tea.
It was great to see the restaurant full and there’s no doubt Solario Racing had the biggest table! There was a really good atmosphere and it was clear people were glad to be back enjoying themselves.
The day began at around mid-day with Owners studiously picking their selections for the customary Solario Racing tipster competition. With some of the field sizes not being too big, it was always likely that it wouldn’t be too difficult to pick some horses who were at least in the frame if not winners and so it proved to be.
The opening race, a novice hurdle went the way of the JP McManus favourite, Heads Law and the second favourite, Bucephalus, followed him home, so that was a good start for many in the competition.
Long time owner and supporter, Mick White was off to a flyer with maximum points after two races but it was Vivienne Trigg who was the most consistent, as she picked a winner in each of the eight races and won the competition by a clear six points.
Solario Racing raised some money on the day for the Gaddesden Place Riding For Disabled and with Vivienne kindly donating her winning pot to the charity, we raised £150.
The Champagne and wine flowed all afternoon and it was great to see Amy Murphy, who trains the unnamed Buratino 2yo for Solario Racing, come up for a drink with her owners after her runner, Raqisa, in the opener.
The next Solario Racing social is the Buratino’s Naming Day on 5 April. There are just two 1/12th shares available, so if you’d like to get involved in an exciting juvenile, please contact the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email info@solarioracing.com for details or to arrange a private viewing at Amy’s Southgate Stables.
