PAUL WEBBER is a very welcome addition to Solario Racing and yesterday, several owners went to see for themselves the fabulous training facilities at Cropredy Lawn. They were not surprisingly, very impressed.
The plan was to get to Paul’s for third lot at 10.15 am, a very civilised time but as always, there’s always someone who’s rather anal about time keeping and who turned up some 45 minutes early…yes, the Racing Manager!
Aside from the embarrassment of being too early (incidentally, the Master of Cropredy Lawn did not bat an eyelid) the upside was that I was privy to some schooling sessions by useful chaser, Sarando. Having taken a confidence-shattering fall in last year’s Hennessey, the aim is to get him to believe in his undoubted ability once more. Yesterday, will have done him no harm at all in that department.
Once all assembled, the owners were warmed up with some welcome coffee in the trainer’s kitchen before going out to see 3rd Lot. Paul has many dual-purpose horses in his charge and they included Danvilla, who finished a very creditable second at Weatherby last week end.
The tour of Cropredy Lawn included the unique equine waterway and owners were privy to seeing horses taking a dip in the equine pool. (Fortunately, the owner who threatened to bring his swimming costume and join in…didn’t!)
It was then down to what Paul has likened as his second office, “The Inn at Farnborough”, for lunch…and we could all see why. A must for any owner at Cropredy Lawn.
There has been a lot of interest in the Rebellion yearling who will be trained by Paul next season. If you are interested in getting involved in this very exciting colt, please call the Racing Office (01442 877 597) for details and to arrange a private viewing.
