IS there no end to the wind and the rain?
We may not have had a white Christmas but we certainly had our share of bad weather at the end of 2013. The Met Office said of last month: “This was the windiest December in records from 1969 and one of the windiest calendar months since January 1993.” As for the rain, it was the wettest Scotland on record with 11 inches falling in the last month of the year.
The New Year has started no better and the photo of Lingfield Park on Friday afternoon says it all. Just as well it was an all-weather fixture as the turf course was largely under water as were many of the roads en route to the course.
Despite a detour due to flooding, Solario Racing’s Gunning For Glory made it to the course. However, not only did he get rather wet during the afternoon but he also took a buffeting during the race which put paid to his chances.
It never rains when it pours!
