Robert Winston – back aboard Vena D’Amore
VENA D’AMORE steps up in trip today to 1m 1/2f at Wolverhampton (4.35pm) and the increase in distance needs to be in her favour if she is going to trouble the judge.
The 3yo daughter of Exceed And Excel ran well a year ago when third, narrowly beaten in a Nottingham maiden on soft ground over 5f but she has been very disappointing since in six handicap sprints, having only beaten six horses home in all six races. Today, she races off 53, 20lbs below her first handicap outing in July of last year.
Robert Winston is back on board for the first time since August of last year and hopefully that combined with the new trip will augur well. However, it will take a leap of faith to side with the 25/1 shot. A more likely winner is the favourite, Antico Lady or the first time visored Power Of Life.
