MIXED FORTUNES WITH GROUND FOR BIG GUNS

Librisa Breeze - runs at Deauville

Librisa Breeze – runs at Deauville

HARPER LODGE FARM has three of its big guns out this week end at here and in France and all three would appreciate some cut in the ground.  The French runner, Librisa Breeze should get his ground but the two Stewards’ Cup runners, Lancelot Du Lac and Eirene will be facing Good To Firm.

Librisa Breeze is one of 20 runners in the Group One Maurice De Gheest at Deauville tomorrow (2.15pm) over 6.5 furlongs and the Good to Soft will suit.  He’s one of the top-rated in the race and should out-run his 20/1 price tag under Robert Winston.

In the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood (3.40pm), Lancelot Du Lac is 1lb higher than when winning last year under Frankie Dettori.  However, the ground then was soft, so today’s conditions will be very  different.  Interestingly, he’s drawn 15, the same as  last year.  Robert Winston rides the 33/1 shot.

Eirene has done her winning on soft but she put up a good performance when 3rd in the Nell Gwyn on Good Ground and sprinting is clearly her game.  She’s in good form and may be worth a second look each-way at 25/1 in a typically competitive Stewards’ Cup.  Charles Bishop is in the plate.

The yard’s other runner is 33/1 chance, Fancy Flyer, in the seven runner novice over 5f at Lingfield in the 8.05.  Rob Hornby rides.
