Lisselton Cross - broke duck at Wolverhampton
LISSELTON CROSS has been knocking at the door of late and he gained a deserved win yesterday at Wolverhampton to give the stable its first winner of the year from just seven starts on the flat.
The 4yo son of Compton Place had been placed in six of his previous thirteen races but he has not had much luck with the draw recently. On this occasion, he was drawn low (five of thirteen) and was stepping up to 6f, the first time he’d tried this trip in a handicap.
Luke Morris has made a good start to the season and he is a good man to have on your side on the all-weather tracks. He is rarely out of position and took advantage of his draw to chase the leaders without going the suicidal pace, set by Tamino. Lisselton went second well inside the final furlong and ran on to grab the leader and won by a neck at 11/2.
The stable seems to be hitting form with the winner following Arachnophobia’s second last week at Southwell.
Congratulations to winning owner, Mrs Jean O’Connor.
