LIBRISA BREEZE has settled in well in Dubai ahead of his big day in the sun at Meydan on Saturday afternoon in the Group One Al Quoz Sprint.

The 6yo grey flew out last Friday and arrived in the early hours of Saturday.  On Monday he did a gentle canter on the training track under his groom, Emily Crossman.  While the grey is in good order, he will certainly have noticed the change in temperature, something Dean alluded to after he joined his stable star at the beginning of the week.

“I suppose a worry might be the climate. It’s been very cold with us at home and it’s set to be a warm week in Dubai.”

The good news for the Tony Bloom-owned Champions Sprint winner is that his pre-race preparation back home has gone very well.  A few weeks ago he went to Kempton and did a very nice piece of work.  He’s certainly not gone out to Meydan to make up the numbers with Dean adding:

“I think he’s got every chance. I wouldn’t be sending him all that way just to take part – I’m going with the intention of having a big run.”

Robert Winston, who has ridden him every time since the horse came to Harper Lodge Farm over two years ago is again on board at Meydan.  The going is good and Librisa is drawn in stall three, the same stall as for last year’s winner of the race, The Right Time.

The hot favourite is Godolphin’s Blue Point at a shade of odds-on but Librisa, the top rated-horse (119) in the race is no forlone hope at 10/1 and could run a big race.  He needs to be held up to show his devastating turn of foot, so will need the usual good fortune in running.

Good luck Librisa!
