DON’T LOOK DOWN, the very well named grey 3yo by Aussie Rules has his second ever run this Friday, at Wolverhampton and there is just one 1/12th share available!
Last month, the imposing son of the 2006 French 2000 Guineas and Shadwell Turf Mile winner, ran a race full of promise on his debut when fourth at Wolverhampton in a 1m 1 1/2 furlong novice. He steps up in trip to 1m4f and on breeding, he should appreciate the trip.
Don’t Look Down is indeed well named. He’s out of a Rainbow Quest mare, Miss Katmandu and is a full-brother to three times winner, Tenzing Norgay. Add the fact that he’s a very tall horse, his name is very apt and well chosen by his breeder, the late Mr J L C Pearce.
The grey is not only well named but well bred. His full brother, Tenzing Norgay won three times and was rated 83 at his peak. The half-brother, Kashgar, won six races and achieved a rating of 90. The pedigree has plenty of black type. The dam, Miss Katmandu, is a half-sister to two Ormonde Stakes winners, Asian Heights and St Expedit.
On his debut, Don’t Look Down was a little green and his inexperience against ten of the field who had run before was exposed. However, on seeing daylight after the final bend, he really took off and made eye-catching progress late on.
Don’t Look Down is sure to come on for the run and this exciting 3yo has a bright future. Solario Racing’s Spring Romance has won four times this year and trainer, Dean Ivory had his best ever season in 2017 for the fifth year running.
