LANCELOT DU LAC may be in the veteran stage of his racing career at the age of 9 and he may not be quite as quick as he was in his prime but his fine record at Chelmsford together with his lowest ever handicap mark gives him a sporting each-way chance at the Essex track tonight (6pm).
One of 14 runners in the 0-105 handicap, the winners of 13 of his previous 64 starts, is now rated 97 and his record at Chelmsford is three wins and a second from four starts, so at 14/1, he looks worth serious each-way consideration, especially at 14/1. Joey Haynes rides Lance in what is admittedly an open contest.
Half an hour later at 6.30pm at the same track, Sophie Ralston claims 5lbs on Lordsbridge Boy, on whom she has won twice, at Newmarket and Kempton. The 3yo son of Equiano is just 3lbs higher than for his win last time out and he should be competitive off his new mark in the 6f handicap. Favourite Split Down South is an obvious danger but Lordsbridge Boy is an each-way player at 9/1.
