LANCELOT DU LAC is the yard’s first runner of the new turf season and he runs in the opener (1.50pm) at Doncaster, the Listed Camidge Trophy over 6f and the 10/3 favourite has a great chance of getting Harper Lodge Farm off to a turf flyer!
He’s the top-rated horse in the race on 110, is fit from his recent Wolverhampton win, will not mind the soft going and has Robert Winston on board. The next top-rated Peaceful Pasture could be his main danger.
Dean also sends Incredible Dream to Donny in the 5.20, the 1m2f apprentice handicap. He too will not mind conditions and has won over the distance but he was reluctant to race last time out back in October, so there is a risk attached to backing him at 10/1. Jack Osborn rides claiming three pounds in a trappy race in which they go 6/1 the field.
At Wolverhampton, Jack Duern has a favourite’s chance on Nezar in the 7f handicap, due off at 5.45pm. He’s been running well at Kempton of late but his last win was at Dunstall Park off the same handicap mark as he runs off tomorrow, 74. The 7yo son of Mastercraftsman is a 3/1 shot and should not be far away.
Jack is also on board Olive Mabel in another 7f handicap, due off at 7.15pm which also includes the yard’s Mimram (Robert Winston). The latter is in good form having been second and a winner in her last two starts and drawn three, she has a good each-way chance at 9/2.
Oliver Mabel’s form isn’t as good but the 10/1 shot probably has improvement in her and cannot be totally ruled out.
Spring Romance owners will be keen to see how Brockey Rise runs in the race as he was runner-up behind us last month and has subsequently won and been fourth. He only ran yesterday but cannot be discounted with Adam Kirby taking the ride.
