LANCELOT FAVOURITE FOR FIRST TRY ON TAPETA

Lancelot Du Lac - favourite at Wolverhampton

LANCELOT DU LAC has been well supported for his first attempt on the Tapeta surface this afternoon at Wolverhampton (4.25pm) and despite his inexperience of the surface, he should run well according to the market.

The 107-rated son of Shamardal is one of nine runners in the 0-105 handicap over 6f and this classy sprinter has to concede weight all round but that’s because he’s by some way, the best horse in the race on ratings.  He’s drawn in six and Robert Winston is on board so hopefully the 11-times winner can reward favourite backers at around 5/2.    Dangers include Mickey and Nadir.

The stable could complete a double with Dors Law, top weight and also 5/2 favourite for an apprentice handicap over a mile at Chelmsford (6.15pm).  This consistent mare has only won once in 22 previous outings but she’ll appreciate the drop back to a mile, a distance over which she has won at Kempton.

Jack Osborn rides, claiming three pounds and from stall one, she shouldn’t be far away.  Her chief rivals could be Mr Potter and Almanack.
