LANCELOT DU LAC and Tropics both line up this evening in the Listed Race at Windsor over 6f, due off at 7.25pm and at the weights, they both face a big ask.
The seven-runner Weatherbys Hamilton Leisure Stakes was won by Tropics back in 2015 but he was rated 115 back then. Now, despite a resurgence in the twilight of his racing career with three handicap wins in his last six runs, he is rated 102 and at 50/1 has it all to do under Jack Duern.
Lance is rated 107 on the turf, three pounds lower than his all-weather rating and Tropics’ younger stable mate also has a fair bit to find on ratings and the Good To Firm ground is not ideal. Robert Winston rides the 16/1 shot.
Of the two Ivory runners’ rivals, favourite, The Tin Man, who won this in 2016, after a long absence, is best in at the weights and if anywhere near his best, should take all the beating.
