KERRERA makes her debut today for Dean Ivory in the mile handicap at Chelmsford tonight (5pm) after an absence from the racetrack of 176 days.
The 6yo daughter of Champs Elysee was a winner at Newmarket when with Paul Webber but that was over two years ago. She has clearly had her problems but is now a stone lower than when winning and if the change of scene has helped, she could be an each-way player at around 16/1, especially with Sophie Ralston taking 5lbs off her back.
The same jockey rides Red Cossack in the 6.30 at Chelmsford, a 7f handicap for the same owner, Mrs Gwen Thomas. The 9yo chestnut gelding may be stretching his followers’ patience as he is on a losing run of 28 races which stretches back to September 2015. He’s again in a weak race and again has come in for support to 11/2 second favourite. One day he’ll probably win again but it’s not easy to guess when.
