Dean Ivory – heading for record season

KADRIZZI’S win in the Sprint Cup, the last race at the Shergar Cup Meeting at Ascot yesterday saw Dean Ivory reach 30 winners for the year.

Ridden by Thierry Jarnet for the European team, the 3yo son of Hurricane Cat, winner of three of his previous twelve starts but a little disappointing in his last two runs on the turf, bounced back to form with a vengeance.

Held up in last place, Kadrizzi made progress two furlongs from home and hit the front a furlong out to win nicely by two lengths.  Dean Ivory was delighted with this win over six furlongs and said he would now step him up in trip to seven.

Dean’s season goes from strength to strength and this is the earliest he has ever had 30 winners in the fifteen seasons he has been training.  Numerically, his best year was 2013 when he reached 39 winners and given that he had trained 30 of them by the end of August, the Master of Harper Lodge Farm is on target to achieve his best ever tally of winners.

The prize money front is also looking very rosy.  Currently just short of £450,000, the stable is less than £54k below its best ever recorded total of £502,000, achieved last year.  And there are still nearly four months of racing to go!
