DEAN IVORY sets a poser by running both Stake Acclaim and Kadrizzi in the 4.15 at Windsor today and the latter looks to have the better draw.
Thirteen line up for the 0-105 Class 2 handicap over 6f and Stake Acclaim is drawn widest of all while Kadrizzi is more kindly berthed in stall four.
The former has won twice at Windsor, including a four length success when coming up the stands rail under a canny ride by Robert Winston. The handicapper took a dim view of the winning margin and upped the son of Acclamation nine pounds to a career high 98. While the weight may not stop him, the draw might, which is why he’s probably drifted out to 8/1. Robert Winston again does the steering on his only mount of the day.
Kadrizzi is two pounds lower than for his Ascot success last August but needs to improve upon a somewhat tame effort last time out at Goodwood. He is more solid in the market at 12/1 and Pat Cosgrave rides.
Stake Acclaim has always been well regarded at home and is enjoying a good, consistent season. Maybe the answer is to split each-way stakes between the two horses in a very competitive race in which dangers include Dark Shot and Ice Age.
